HELLO, I'M TONG

I’m a storyteller, digital thinker, and hands-on creator who transforms ideas into reality. My goal is to keep learning, take on new challenges, evolve my creativities and continue to deliver quality work in the age of “anything is possible with a collaborative vision”.

I create diverse design with a touch of playfulness and artistic verve while taking branding and business into consideration. Being a huge believer of “The future of tech is Humanity”, I bring Human-Centric thinking into my creative practice and process through empathy, communication, and real-world critical thinking.

My passion and focus are about the people that interact with my design. Through observation, research, analysis, and forward-thinking execution, my designs are thought-provoking, engaging and drive social impact. Over the years, I have been exploring the concept of divergency such as using creativity and design to promote advocacy for humanity, diversity, and equality.

I hold a bachelor degree in Art and Design (Animation) from Nanjing University of Arts in China, and a diploma in Advertising and Design from Langara College in Vancouver, Canada.

As the creative director at TROCHI, I strive to “think outside the box while thinking inside the luggage”. I learned what it takes to grow a profitable start-up company using both traditional and innovative business models.

STUN AND AWE

As a freelance designer, I help innovative start-ups, academic institutions, art & cultural organizations and boutique creative agencies with their branding and business strategy.

To fulfill my great curiosity about the future of technology and design, I teamed up with Stun and Awe, a Berlin-based marketing agency that has focused on business strategies and experimental marketing since 2018. I continue to work with them as a visual brand designer.

ECCO SHOES

At a time where social media was in its infancy for potential possibilities, I innovatively incorporated social media into the sales level to promote ECCO and its product lines. Doing so allowed me to cultivate an internal community and offer a boutique shopping experience to the clientele. Using this platform design and strategy, increasing both personal and store sales.

Independent Artist & Exhibitor / 2019
ARTWORK COMMISSIONED BY ASIAN CANADIAN SPECIAL EVENT ASSOCIATION (ACSEA).

In collaboration with Taiwanfest (Harbourfront Centre in Toronto and Downtown Vancouver), I presented my artwork, “The Courage” which is a tribute to the legalization of same-sex marriage in Taiwan. My work was featured twice in the Georgia Straight, one of the most popular media presses in Vancouver.
